Hot Springs is located in the Diamond Lakes region of west-central Arkansas, approximately sixty miles southwest of Little Rock. It is one of the nation’s premier resort cities, known for its natural springs, championship golf courses, and thoroughbred horseracing.
Hot Springs is home to a population of more than 35,000 residents and is the county seat of Garland County. The city is surrounded by Hot Springs National Park, the smallest and oldest of the nation’s parks that is famous for the 48 thermal springs that bubble up throughout the park. Hot Springs National Park is home to Bathhouse Row, a National Historic Landmark District that features eight bathhouses originally constructed during the late 1800s and early 1900s, including the historic Fordyce Bathhouse, an elaborately styled Renaissance Revival structure built in 1915 that now serves as the park’s visitor center.
Downtown Hot Springs is home to the legendary Arlington Resort Hotel & Spa, the city’s most recognizable landmark and the largest luxury hotel in the state of Arkansas. Built in 1875, the hotel is located on the north end of Bathhouse Row and features nearly 500 rooms and suites.
Hot Springs boasts a thriving cultural arts scene that features galleries, museums, arts and crafts shows, and a number of popular music and film festivals that include the Hot Springs Music Festival and Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, held each June and October, respectively. Must-see Hot Springs attractions include the National Park Duck Tours, National Park Aquarium, and the Belle of Hot Springs riverboat.
Hot humid summers and mild cool winters afford year-round opportunities for outdoor sports and recreation in and around the city of Hot Springs. Popular recreational pursuits include fishing and boating on Lake Hamilton, horseracing at Oaklawn Park, and camping at Lake Ouachita State Park. Hot Springs is home to a number of championship golfing facilities, including Diamondhead Golf Club, a private facility located within the Diamondhead Gated Community, and Hot Springs Country Club, a semi-private club that extends privileges to members and out-of-town visitors.
